Active school travel aims to get more students to use travel modes that are active, safe, and sustainable. This means more children walking, wheeling (bicycle, scooter, skateboard, wheelchair) or taking the school bus or public transit for all or part of their journey to and from school each day.

Active school travel offers a multitude of benefits, including improved physical and mental health, reduced traffic congestion, air pollution, and carbon emissions due to fewer car trips and fewer traffic accidents. It also offers children opportunities to learn road safety, develop navigation skills, socialize with peers and encourage engagement with their community.

We are pleased to share that TCAT and Green Communities Canada have collaboratively developed advocacy assets to promote active school travel in Ontario and beyond.

These advocacy assets are free to use for anyone and we request you share them through your social media platforms. Please share these with school boards, community groups, organizations other stakeholders to help us spread the word!
