TCAT officially launched its community cycling hub in Newmarket and celebrated the existing cycling hub in Markham at the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) appreciation event on July 23rd. TCAT was joined by Markham-Unionville MPP Billy Pang, Newmarket Councillor Victor Woodhouse, Newmarket-Aurora MPP Dawn Gallagher Murphy, Newmarket Councillor Bob Kwapis, Newmarket’s Mayor John Taylor, Deputy Mayor Tom Vegh and Biagio Rachiele of Newmarket Public Library to celebrate Markham Cycles and Newmarket Cycles. Funded by the OTF, these cycling hubs are fun spaces that provide people in the community with free bike-related programming such as group rides, repair booths, workshops and education, as well as free access to bikes and bike accessories. Over 50 community members attended the event, and participated in a group ride and bike repair pop-up session.
