We are pleased to share the recording from our latest Mobilizing Justice Webinar.
Uber and Lyft have become significant players in the transportation industry. Initially subsidized by venture capital, they now face pressure to become profitable, resulting in fare increases that outpace driver compensation. In February 2024, rideshare drivers protested globally against low earnings and poor working conditions, corroborating reports of below-minimum-wage pay. Municipalities have also emerged as crucial battlegrounds and experimentation sites for better working conditions, more efficient use of resources, and supply-side justice in the ride-hailing sector.
Our latest panel discussion brought together rideshare drivers, academic experts, and community advocates to explore our mutual interest in establishing fair, efficient, and sustainable transportation options for Canadians and achieving policies that deliver just transportation on both the demand and supply side.
