Jiya Benni is an urban designer and researcher. Her focus is on creating human-centric, sustainable and climate-resilient cities, and her areas of expertise include spatial design, graphic design, research and community engagement. Jiya holds a Master’s in Urbanism from the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from the University of Kerala, India, and has published articles and research pieces related to collaborative planning and bottom-up urbanism. She has worked with TCAT on several projects including Active Neighbourhoods Canada, Bike Parking Site Planning at TCHC Apartment Towers, and Vision Zero Senior Safety Zones facilitation. She also sits on the board of Sprout, a platform that connects communities to landscape architects.
