2. Complete Streets for Canada in the news
TCAT recently launched Complete Streets for Canada and TCAT's Complete Streets Researcher and Project Manager, Ryan Anders Whitney, has been interviewed by two popular Toronto news sites and one Edmonton newspaper.

The article in Spacing focuses on the merits and challenges associated with implementing Complete Streets policies across Canada. The article in Torontoist focuses on our Complete Streets by Design work and the importance of strong and effective local Complete Streets policies to make Complete Streets a reality. Finally, the article in the Edmonton Journal discusses the City's plans to adopt and implement a Complete Streets policy.

3. Toronto's new Chief Planner
The City of Toronto recently announced the appointment of Jennifer Keesmaat, Principal at Dialog, as Toronto's new Chief Planner. Keesmaat is recognized as one of Canada's foremost planners, with successful projects nationally and internationally, and awards for planning excellence from several different organizations. She is also a vocal advocate for walking and cycling. Spacing interviewed Keesmaat shortly after the announcement, offering a look at the perspective and ideas she will bring to Toronto City Hall when she begins next month.  Please watch her presentation at Tedx Regina from earlier this year for some of her thoughts on walking.
