2006 Election Surveys

Prior to the November 2006 Toronto municipal election, TCAT distributed 455 surveys to all Mayoral (38), Ward Councillor (274), and School Trustee (143) candidates to see where each of them stood on key initiatives that City Council needs to support in order to improve the cycling and pedestrian environment in Toronto. The survey provided a ward-by-ward breakdown of key active transportation projects and asked candidates if they would act as champions for the projects in their wards. TCAT posted all responses received without editorial comment and distributed the results broadly.

The mayoral and councillor candidate survey had 19 key questions on concrete and practical steps they could take to improve Active Transportation in Toronto. The School Trustee survey consisted of 6 questions that asked candidates where they stood on key issues in which the School Boards can help make active transportation an easy and safe option for kids going to school.
